Hosted and external listings

What this feature does

Mallello supports hosted listings paid through Stripe Connect and external listings that link to a vendor-controlled storefront.

This guide describes the behavior implemented by Mallello, the people allowed to use it, and the operational checks that keep it dependable.

Detailed workflow

1. The vendor selects the listing type before entering the relevant commercial details.
2. Hosted listings collect product options and payment through Mallello's checkout.
3. External listings provide a clear outbound action and track no Mallello order payment.
4. Both types can participate in discovery, follows, vendor profiles, and status updates.

Rules and permissions

• A listing type changes money flow, responsibility, and available fields.
• External URLs must use an allowed secure scheme and must not impersonate Mallello checkout.
• Hosted checkout requires a connected, payment-ready vendor account.
• Changing type after orders exist should be prohibited or handled as a controlled migration.

Failure handling and edge cases

• Broken external links should fail visibly rather than silently redirecting.
• A Connect account losing capability can make a hosted listing temporarily unpurchasable.
• Do not infer external sales from clicks; vendors may record verified external MOQ separately.
